Developing a rapid prototype allows you to quickly assess the effectiveness of your solution ideas, identifying what works, what doesn't, and gaining new insights.

Identify the Questions You Want to Answer

Before diving into prototyping, clarify your purpose. Each test attempt should address a specific question. To determine what to test, follow these steps:

• List the solution ideas you've chosen.
• It is often not necessary or meaningful to test all of your good solution ideas end-to-end. Focus on testing the most critical aspect of each solution concept.
• Consider the assumptions, which will lead your solution to trash can if not true, and turn them into questions.
• If there are too many questions, which is good, prioritize them by importance and likelihood of being off the mark.

For instance, if you're considering an electronic wallet solution, your critical aspect might be the user's checkout experience. Test only this aspect initially, focusing on assumptions like user understanding of the payment process. Let's say you have assumed that your target audience will quickly understand how to pay with the solution you have built and you think that if this does not happen, you will have serious problems in the acceptance of your solution. Then you should choose to test only the first checkout experience at first.
